great tut…i did it very easily, but there’s a faint line in the picture if you move it around and the top of the gradiated pic is in the middle of the background pic…is there a way to fix that?

i noticed that one too - and there is a way to fix it (if you feel it needs fixing) although it i find that the picture becomes too see-through, but you can try it if you want.
when applying the gradient, select a different type of gradient. if the picture is square/rectangular i would suggest the diamond gradient. then drag from one corner of the image to the other and you will have it fading out of two sides. if you drag from the center to one of the corners it will fade out on all sides. then you can copy and paste it into the other image like normal. try experimenting with different gradients on different layers with different blending modes etc. you can get some interesting effects.
